The Beginning

How we started out? that's a damn good question...this "band" we've got now is a result of many years of mixing and matching and dropping members of the face of the planet. The band founded on the pretext of wanting to cover the cure is now a driving force of members that want to make music that will somehow take someone into a mysterious state of amazement and emotion. Toy with your mind if you will. We'd like to say that our very own rich and jon started the "band" with some rather capricious, fool-hardy, dreamy ideas. Jon was going to play drums with rich on vocals...they soon realized that rich needed to play an instrument to be in this magical "band" that was started. Jon brought over the song "10:15 on a Saturday night" by the cure and said to me "Dave i have this cool beat for you to play." So as I jammed along with this song on my new drum set, jon, rich, and I realized we wanted to make music together. We fondled the idea of playing cure tunes...jon on vocals and his guitar he had been playing on the side...me on drums...we even acquired a bassist named bart...with whom we would play "a forest" infinite amounts of times. Maybe that's why bart left...

Well, i started writing music after i picked up the guitar and started jamming along my good bud Jon. He would write graceful little leads that i would set chords to. I started to compose weird sounding compositions and input our jams into my new and infamous midi program. We then became serious about playing music...and we forced that Richard to fill the bass role that bart had abandoned. So we played more of that cure stuff and realized that we need a member or 2 that did not need to be...should we say..."kicked in the face with a golf shoe." We had shitcanned an uncountable number of people by this time...and I had just met a dark, disreputable, but unusually compatible John...with an H mind you. Anyways we had mastered the art of the cure tune after acquiring this proficient keyboardist/drummer...but he knew we were floundering in a shallow void. John wanted to play the original stuff that I had been writing...constantly...i had tunes written to fill score after score after score...he would have none of this cure nonsense...so he quit our "band". Was this the end? I pondered...and i decided that we should put the originals to work. Some say that they sound like the cure...but once me and Jon started to put parts together...we knew there was something new and pulsing with energy...that we had to set forth upon. John then rejoined the clan of me, Richard, and Jon... and my first song..."undone"...turned into a live masterpiece. We then knew that these songs i had written were beckoning to be played...but with one more musical musician we could play them...

We then acquired the mythical guitarist Isaac...our fifth member, who brought upon an element of completeness now encompasses us. And now flowing with life and creativity...this "band" is now not just a "band"...its a musical and mystical fortress of sound we call Mindstrings.
